Hearts of Oak will be looking to start the season on a good note
President Mahama to Kick Off 2025/26 Ghana Premier League Season at Accra Sports Stadium

President John Dramani Mahama will officially launch the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League on Friday, September 12, 2025, when he performs the ceremonial kick-off at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of the season opener between Accra Hearts of Oak and newcomers Hohoe United.
The President will be joined by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, members of the Executive Council, and football fans from across the capital as the curtain rises on a season expected to deliver unmatched excitement and drama.

The opening clash will see Hearts of Oak, eager to end a four-year streak without an opening-day win, face off under the floodlights against Hohoe United, who will be making their maiden appearance in the top flight. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm (19:00 GMT).

Earlier at 4:00 pm, the Black Starlets (U-17) will take on Auroras FC, the youth team of Hearts, in a curtain-raiser before the main fixture.
Adding to the festivities, award-winning musician Stonebwoy will light up the stadium with a live performance, blending football and entertainment for an unforgettable season launch.
The President’s involvement in the opening ceremony underscores the significance of the Premier League as a unifying force and a symbol of national pride as the 2025/26 campaign gets underway.
