Bayern Munich face growing anxiety over Harry Kane contract talks

Harry Kane contract renewal worry for Bayern

Bayern Munich are growing increasingly concerned about renewing Harry Kane’s contract, with the star striker linked to a lucrative Saudi move and reportedly holding a favourable exit clause.

Bayern Munich have been keen to renew the English striker’s contract for some time now. Still, the striker has remained calm about the situation, even though it looks likely he will stay at the Allianz Arena by extending his contract.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has consistently offered words of hope to the fanbase in the Kane contract situation, revealing that “talks” were being held.

However, reports indicate that Kane has yet to be part of such discussions concerning any contract renewal, which is worrying from an optics perspective.

The English international has a contract that expires in the summer of 2027, and there is no rush on Bayern’s side to table an extension contract. However, a £57 million exit clause in 2026 stares worryingly at the face of the Bavarian club.

Teams worldwide would view that fee as excellent value, given the consistently elite level maintained by one of the planet’s most fearsome strikers, even at the age of 32.

The 32-year-old frontman, since moving to Germany with Bayern, has bagged 123 goals through 129 appearances – picking up two Golden Boots in Germany and a Bundesliga title.

Kane has become the fastest player in Bayern history to reach 100-goal contributions since moving from Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

His long-standing trophy drought ended in Munich, yet speculation is mounting about whether he’ll chase future glory elsewhere. Bayern remain deeply reluctant to lose such a talismanic figure.

In January, Bayern confirmed initial contract discussions with Harry Kane. Sporting director Max Eberl has provided an update:

“I said we were in talks, but the negotiations have not started yet. We are in close contact with Harry, and further steps will follow.”

Kane has not hidden his willingness to sign a new deal with Bayern, with his family — including wife Kate — now comfortably settled in Germany after leaving their long-time north London comfort zone.

Kane said when discussing his future at the end of 2025: “The move has been one of the best decisions of my life. To experience a new league, a team like Bayern Munich, these European nights, the atmosphere in the German league, has been a great step in my career and helped me improve as a player.

“I’m quite open to staying longer. The way we are right now and the way we are playing, I feel we are one of the best teams in Europe, for sure. I don’t look at any other team and think, ‘I want to go there.’ I’m really happy here. I’ve got 18 months on my contract, and I’m sure there will be discussions in the future.”
