Kotoko Coach Prince Owusu reportedly disappears

Prince Owusu endured a challenging spell at the helm

Tension and uncertainty have gripped the camp of Asante Kotoko following a dramatic turn of events involving interim head coach Prince Owusu.

According to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, the embattled coach has quietly exited the club’s residence, packing all his belongings and failing to show up for training earlier today.

His sudden disappearance has raised eyebrows within the club, especially as attempts by management to reach him have gone unanswered.

Sources close to the situation suggest that Owusu’s decision may not be unconnected to alleged threats from a section of the club’s supporters, adding another layer of tension to an already difficult period for the Porcupine Warriors.

This development comes on the back of a heavy 4-0 defeat to league leaders Medeama SC at the TNA Park last Sunday, a result that appears to have intensified frustrations among the fanbase.

Owusu, who stepped in to replace Abdul Karim Zito, endured a challenging spell at the helm. In eight matches, he managed just two victories, suffering four defeats and settling for two draws.

His tenure was further marred by the club’s early exit from the Ghana FA Cup.

With the club currently sitting sixth on the league table with 43 points, ten adrift of leaders Medeama, pressure had been steadily mounting.

In the wake of his departure, assistant coach Hamza Obeng, who previously worked with Hearts of Oak, is expected to step in and steer the team through this turbulent period.

He is expected to take charge of the remaining five games of the campaign.
