South Africa star Jayden Adams losses life days after World Cup exit

In a heart-breaking news, South Africa national team star Jayden Adams has met his untimely death just a few days after representing his country in the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The 25-year-old has reportedly lost his life, just a fortnight after competing for his nation at the World Cup, following the nation’s crushing out of the World Cup.
The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder started South Africa’s first two matches of the tournament against Mexico and Czech Republic.
Jayden was an unused sub as his nation was defeated 1-0 by Canada in the round of 32.
Meanwhile, he was a substitute as South Africa beat South Korea to secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition.
The dynamic midfielder was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that won the bronze at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in the Ivory Coast in 2024.
“The South African Football Players Union, in a statement, wrote: ‘The SAFPU is devastated by the untimely passing of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder, Jayden Adams.
“Jayden had only recently represented South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, carrying the hopes of the nation with pride, courage, and distinction.
“His passing is an immeasurable loss to his family, teammates, clubs, the football fraternity and country at large.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the Adams family, Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC, Bafana Bafana and all those whose lives he touched.
“South African football has lost a gifted player, a proud servant of the game and a young life that still had so much to offer.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, also paid tribute to Adams in a lengthy statement.
“It is with profound shock and a heavy heart that I have learnt of the passing of Jayden Adams, midfielder for Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana, at the age of 25,” McKenzie said.
“South African football has lost one of its brightest young talents, and our nation mourns alongside his family, his teammates and the millions of supporters who watched him grow from a promising academy prospect into a full Bafana Bafana international.

“I will always remember watching Bafana’s match against Czechia in Atlanta. I recall noting how unusually quiet Jayden seemed on the bench in the second half, after he had been substituted – it was only afterwards that we learnt he had taken to the field that day carrying the fresh grief of losing his grandmother, Marianna, who had passed away only hours before kick-off.”
