Omar Marmoush granted permission to undergo Tottenham medical

Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush has been given permission to undergo his medical ahead of his switch to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, after an agreement was struck between both clubs for a transfer.

Marmoush will move to the north London club on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for £50 million plus £10 million in add-ons to buy him permanent, with £5 million guaranteed upfront payment.

He is set to undergo a medical ahead of following former City team-mate Savio to Spurs, who signed on Tuesday for a transfer worth £85m.

The Egyptian international is expected to sign a four-year contract with a further year under Spurs new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

According to Sky Sports reports, Eintracht Frankfurt did not insert a sell-on clause to the forward’s contract when he signed for Man City in January 2025.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Charlton in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports, De Zerbi said Spurs would continue to spend in the transfer market.

Tottenham took their record-breaking summer spend to over £300m after the £85m signing of Savio after already signing Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, with Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi arriving on free transfers.

Speaking after being quizzed about whether he feels the pressure, following the financial commitment and backing offered by Spurs in the transfer market under his leadership, De Zerbi remained calm, saying, “I don’t feel pressure”.

“I don’t feel pressure about the transfer market. If I can, I want to spend more money again without problems, because the other teams don’t spend anything different,” De Zerbi said.

“I feel pressure because I am working in one of the best clubs in the world and I would like to help this club to compete to win the titles.

“I don’t know [whether] this season or next season, but, in the end, it’s my big target, my personal target.

“We have nothing less than the other big clubs in the Premier League, especially now in my time. We are moving very well in the transfer market and why not?

“I can’t understand why Tottenham can’t compete with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal. I don’t understand why Tottenham can’t spend the same money as Chelsea, Liverpool.”
