Elmina Sharks bankroller Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum fires back at GFA

Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, bankroller of Elmina Sharks, has responded to the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to fine him for misconduct.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Dr. Ndoum questioned the timing of the GFA’s decision, referencing the Black Stars’ recent victories.

“GFA Paaa…Black Stars win two, and they want to start something? Okay,” Dr. Ndoum posted, implying that the GFA’s action was ill-timed and unnecessary.
The fine and stadium ban stem from an incident during Elmina Sharks’ Division One League match against Swedru All Blacks.
Nduom was found guilty of inciting attacks on referees and interfering with the match by entering the inner perimeter and field of play without authorization.
He has also been fined GHS10,000 and warned that any further misconduct will attract severe sanctions.
The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has also imposed a stadium ban on Elmina Sharks for the rest of the 2024/25 season.

Elmina Sharks were found guilty of failing to ensure the safety of match officials during the match, which they lost to their rivals.
Additionally, the team’s fans were cited for improper behavior, leading to the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee to hand down the stadium ban.
As a result, the club will play the rest of their home games in the league behind closed doors.
In addition to the stadium ban, Elmina Sharks have been fined GHS 20,000 by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The team has also been warned that any violation of the closed-door sanction will result in a harsher penalty: a 10-game home match stadium ban.
The GFA’s decisive action aims to curb the growing incidents of hooliganism in Ghanaian football, sending a strong message to teams and fans alike.
