Man United in talks with Wolves to sign £62m-rated Cunha

Matheus Cunha is expected to move to Manchester United in the summer

Matheus Cunha have been linked with a move to Manchester United in April, with reports from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealing on X(Twitter) that the Red Devils lead the race to sign the attacker.

According to Fabrizio, United are in talks to sign Cunha from Wolves for a reported £62.5m with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.

He indicates that personal terms are being discussed with the player, as the Red Devils are fully aware of the player’s release clause of £62.5m available in his contract.

Those reports are now moving faster as the Daily Mail claims that United are now ‘inching closer’ to an agreement to sign Cunha.

The Brazil international was linked with a move away from Molineux in January but ended up signing a contract extension with the Midlands club.

Despite signing a contract extension, both the player and club fully expect a summer move to go through amid interest from Man United, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Chelsea.

United still have work to do here, and we aren’t taking the latest reports about Cunha as a sign that a deal is already over the line.

Reports way back in August 2022 suggested that United wanted to sign Cunha from Atletico Madrid as a new addition to Erik ten Hag’s attack.

No deal was done back then, but United even wanted Cunha last summer, according to some rumours.

Manchester United have endured a dreadful season under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim and sit just 14th in the Premier League with five games to go.

Ruben Amorim’s only hope to salvage a woeful campaign by winning the Europa League ahead of a semi-final tie with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao.

A Europa League win would not only give United some silverware but also secure the club’s unlikely qualification to next season’s Champions League.

Cunha helped Wolves inflict another defeat on the weekend, with the visitors running away with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

Wolves’ fifth successive win secured the club’s Premier League survival after they spent months in the relegation zone earlier in the campaign.
