Arsenal’s William Saliba admits the Gunners haven’t earned the Premier League title, but insists they still believe in their Champions League potential.
William Saliba’s Brutal Admission: Arsenal Don’t Deserve the Title!

Arsenal defender William Saliba has made a candid admission regarding his team’s Premier League campaign, stating that the Gunners have not done enough to deserve being at the top of the table this season.
The North London club finds itself trailing league leaders Liverpool by a significant 15-point margin, having endured a mixed run of form that has seen them drop crucial points in their pursuit of domestic glory.
Premier League Struggles
Arsenal’s title challenge has been hampered by inconsistency, injuries, and frustrating results. While the Gunners have displayed flashes of brilliance, their inability to maintain momentum over the course of the season has seen them fall behind in the race for the league title. Mikel Arteta’s side has suffered three defeats and recorded ten draws, which have proven costly in their bid to keep pace with Liverpool and Manchester City.
Reflecting on Arsenal’s position, Saliba acknowledged that the team has simply not done enough to be in the title conversation.
“If they are first, it’s because they did something we didn’t do. I think this season we don’t deserve to be at the top, but we have to keep going.” – Saliba
His words highlight the disappointment within the squad as they come to terms with the reality of their Premier League campaign.

European Ambition
However, while the domestic title may be slipping out of reach, Arsenal still has an opportunity to make a significant impact in Europe. The Gunners have been far more convincing in the Champions League, where they currently hold a commanding 7-1 aggregate lead over PSV Eindhoven ahead of the second leg of their last-16 tie. Their performances on the continental stage have offered a glimmer of hope, and Saliba believes that Arsenal has what it takes to go all the way in the competition.
The French defender stressed the importance of belief in European competitions, urging his teammates to embrace the challenge ahead.
“If we don’t believe or if we don’t dream to win the Champions League, there is no point in playing. We can do it, we all believe that we can do it.”
A Shift in Focus
With the Premier League title looking increasingly out of reach, Arteta and his players may now shift their focus toward achieving Champions League success. Winning Europe’s most prestigious club competition would not only be a monumental achievement for the club but would also serve as a statement of intent for the seasons ahead.
Arsenal fans may be disappointed by their league form, but the hope of Champions League glory remains alive. If Saliba and his teammates can channel their belief and deliver on the European stage, they could still turn what has been a challenging season into one to remember.
