Arne Slot is linked with the vacant AC Milan role
Arne Slot linked with swift return to management

Arne Slot parted ways with Premier League giants Liverpool on Saturday, following a disappointing second season campaign at the helm as the Reds’ head coach, and is now linked with a swift return to management.
The 47-year-old failed to lead the Merseyside Reds to success in his second season, ending the season without any silverware after winning Liverpool’s 20th league title in style in his first season in charge.
Not too long after the Dutchman’s sacking from Anfield, the former PSV manager has swiftely been linked with a move back to managerial duties, this time, in the Serie A with AC Milan.

Milan are quickly trying to find a solution to the vacant role at the club, following head coach Massimiliano Allegri’s dismissal after the Italian club failed to secure Champions League qualification on the final day of the season, with a club statement describing the campaign as an “unequivocal failure”.
A wholesome exit emerged at the club after a disappointing campaign in the 2025/26 campaign.
Allegri was soon followed by the rest of the sporting structure, as chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, and technical director Geoffrey Moncada were all dismissed too.

Slot’s potential appointment could commence a whole new team of coaching staff and a top-level management structure, as the Italian side enters the season in the Europa League.
During his time as head coach, he took charge of 113 games for the Reds, winning over half of them and putting himself towards the top of the pile for win percentage compared to other managers in the club’s Premier League history.
By the closing stages of his tenure, the bond between the manager and the Anfield faithful had noticeably weakened.
Frustration over the team’s uninspiring football, coupled with growing scrutiny of his tactical decisions, had begun to erode the goodwill he once enjoyed.
A league title followed by Champions League qualification would be considered a remarkable achievement in most circumstances.
However, at elite clubs, silverware and results tell only part of the story. Perception, identity and the bond between manager and supporters often carry equal weight, and it was these harder-to-quantify factors that ultimately shaped the club’s decision.
Such pressures are an unavoidable part of life at football’s biggest institutions, and they are unlikely to ease should his next destination be AC Milan.
