Medeama thrash Heart of Lions to secure second League title

Medeama Sporting Club have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League following an emphatic 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions at the T&A Park.
The Tarkwa-based side secured the title with a game to spare after a dominant performance in their penultimate fixture of the season.

Despite missing star midfielder Salim Adams due to national team assignment, the Mauve and Yellow delivered a brilliant attacking display to clinch their second league title in style.
A brace each from Kelvin Obeng and Derrick Fordjour, alongside a goal from Prince Owusu, sealed a memorable night for the hosts.
Medeama took the lead in the 12th minute through Kelvin Obeng, who finished brilliantly after a bright start from the home side.
Heart of Lions responded shortly afterwards to level the score at 1-1, but Medeama restored their advantage before halftime as Obeng grabbed his second goal of the evening.
After the break, Derrick Fordjour took control of the contest with two goals in the space of eight minutes to put the game beyond the visitors.
Heart of Lions were handed a lifeline when Etse Dogli converted from the penalty spot, but Medeama completed the rout in added time through Prince Owusu to make it 5-2.

The triumph marks Medeama’s second Ghana Premier League title after first winning the competition during the 2022/23 season.
The victory also secures their place in next season’s CAF Champions League as they prepare to finish the campaign as champions.
